The Department of Education (DepEd) is set to expand its K to 12 curriculum to integrate topics of inclusivity and global citizenship to equip learners with knowledge and skills to become responsible global citizens.
According to DepEd, the Bureau of Curriculum Development (BCD) has been updating and recalibrating the curriculum to be at par with the international curriculum, especially through the integration of global citizenship education (GCED).
With this, students will be equipped and empowered with values, knowledge and skills that are based on and instill respect for human rights, social justice, diversity, gender equality and environmental sustainability.
To ensure better integration of the GCED, DepEd also coordinated with different organizations worldwide to take note of best practices, initiatives and projects that will help in the integration of gender sensitivity and responsiveness, cultural appreciation and inclusivity in the curriculum.
