The Special Adviser to Governor Muhammad Umar Bago on Print Media, Ms Aisha Wakaso, made this disclosure at a press briefing in Minna, the state capital.
According to her, the state government decided to pay the debt to ensure the students’ withheld WAEC results were released.
“So far the results of students from Niger State withheld due to none settlement of debts owed by the state have been now been released for students,” she stated.
The Governor’s aide also disclosed that the government has received samples of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to be procured to reduce transportation difficulties being experienced by people of the state.
She added that the 200 vehicles the State ordered would soon be delivered.
Recall the state government had signed an agreement with four different contracting firms for the purchase of at least 200 CNG buses at N7 billion to reduce the hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy to provide free transportation to pupils and students in the state.
Governor Bago, during the signing of agreement in September 2023, said the delivery of the buses is expected to be completed in 12 weeks.
