High schools all over Belize reopen today, officially opening the 2021-2022 school year.
As per a directive from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, and Technology, all schools have to maintain the online format from last year, due to a recent spike in COVID-19 cases.
The Ministry noted last week that the new school format, taking into account concessions made to teachers following the implemented 10 percent salary reduction, will feature four days of оrgаnіzеd, tеасhеr-dіrесtеd lеаrnіng tаѕkѕ, using a combination of online and print methods, followed by a fifth day of independent student learning, where teachers would still be accessible to offer guidance.
The school year was reduced from 41 weeks to 38 weeks, with high schools projected to close on June 17, 2022. Pre Schools and Primary Schools reopen on Monday, August 30, and will close on June 24.
