According to the figures in the report released this Thursday by the Ministry of Education, 8.20% of students dropped out of school in the last academic year, that is, 1,736 students.
Most of these students were boys, in the 9th and 10th grades, and were repeaters, says the Ministry of Education, adding that 1,293 of them were accompanied by the National Youth Service (SNJ).
Comparing to the last five years, this is the highest rate, slightly above the 8.15% in 2016/2017. In the 2019/2020 academic year, the rate was 6.92%. Even so, the Luxembourg average remains below the EU's 10% target.
