Egypt's Ministry of Education is offering mock tests for Thanawaya Amma students designed after the newest examination module and covering all the subjects of the high school final year.
Thanaweya Amma scores determine the faculties students can join later on.
The mock exams are meant to prepare students for the final exams slated to kick off on 12 June. They comprise a short essay section, constituting 15 percent of the total grade, while the rest are multiple choice questions (MCQs).
Over the past two years, the ministry has introduced new examination styles: bubble sheets and on-screen marking.
This is part of the state's effort to replace the decades-old system based on memorisation with a modern system based on the comprehension of academic material.
The changes focused on scratching long essays and short answer questions and using more MCQs.
The introduction of the new exam system in 2019 resulted in less students passing the Thanaweya Amma exams, with the pass rate declining from 81.5 percent in the 2019-2020 academic year to 75 percent in 2021-2022.
