On January 11, 2024, the Association for Musical Education of Castilla-La Mancha (AldáreaCLM) expressed its rejection of the draft of the decree of organization and curriculum of Baccalaureate, since its wording showed that the subject of music from 1st year of Baccalaureate and the 2nd year of Baccalaureate would be changed.
During the consultation period open to the educational community, on the draft of the Baccalaureate Decree, the group of Music teachers of Castilla-La Mancha warned of the disappearance in the 1st year of Baccalaureate of the subject of Language and Musical Practice as its own optional subject of the community, and the replacement, in the 2nd year of Baccalaureate, of the subject History of Music and Dance with another subject such as Artistic Projects of Music, Dance and Dramatic Art.
The Ministry has informed AldáreaCLM, through its general director of Educational Innovation, Lucio Calleja, that the purpose of the decree "is not only to maintain the Music subjects in both courses, but to expand the training offer." The approach is the same as that proposed in the previous Decree, but without limiting the proposal of subjects to specific modalities.
For this reason, the Department of Education has committed to reviewing the wording of the article in the draft of the Decree that has generated this confusion, in order to clarify that its objective "is to facilitate the work of educational centers, provide "more autonomy and give maximum flexibility to students in their choice."
From AldáreaCLM they celebrate the clarification that the new draft will contemplate, "appreciating the open communication channel with the Ministry and maintaining its willingness to work side by side with the Ministry of Education of Castilla-La Mancha, as we have been doing for years, for a better education, more scientific, artistic, emotional, cultural and technical; "a more equitable education, which offers, in general education, opportunities so that students can develop all their abilities and all their potential."
