September 15, marks the beginning of the new academic year of 2020-2021 at public and private schools of Georgia. To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, owing to the decision of the Interagency Coordination Council, headed by the Prime Minister, the remote educational process at schools and higher educational institutions in some cities and villages of Georgia already resumed on September 15, whereas from October 1, classes will continue across the country.
Despite the the difficult circumstances, the new school year begins with important news. To celebrate the 2020-21 academic year, the construction of nearly 50 new public schools has been completed, and about 800 schools have been fully or partially renovated across the country.
Renovation was fully carried out by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, in cooperation with the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure. Some of the renovation funds, were extracted from the local budgets of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara and other regions of Georgia.
Since the Ministry has been working intensively throughout the summer, the education system is ready to start in full swing. To fully stabilize the learning environment, there is a new distance learning regulation created and approved by the order of the Minister. All relevant changes have been made in the national curriculum, and all schools were subsequently informed. Based on the past experience, the Ministry has accumulated enough experience to allow the smooth execution of the remote learning environment.
