The first SSC results to be announced in May, two weeks before its usual date, saw the success rate increase marginally this year compared with 2023 in both the state and Mumbai division, touching 94.9% and 93.9% respectively. This year, 15.1 lakh teenagers, including 3.4 lakh from the Mumbai division, cleared the state board Class X exam.
Among them, 187 achieved a perfect score of 100%, including seven girls and one boy from the Mumbai division, thanks to additional marks awarded for art, sports, NCC, scouts, and guides. Last year, 151 students had scored 100% in the state and six in the Mumbai division.
This is a testament to the hard work and dedication put in by these students, who not only excelled in academics but also in extracurricular activities, say teachers. Around 1.8 lakh students in the state benefited from the additional marks, with Pune and Mumbai getting more than 40% of the total share.
The 90% club also saw a significant expansion, with 81,991 students in the state, up 23% compared with the previous year, and 13,430 in Mumbai division, up 14%. BMC schools also saw 63 students scoring 90% and above.
