There are a few months left before the Baccalaureate Assessment for University Access (EBAU) is held, although the Christmas break is a good opportunity to start preparing for the test that will be held between June 6 and 17 in ordinary call in all autonomous communities.
Although it seems that there is a long way to go to take the Baccalaureate Assessment for University Access (EBAU), the autonomous communities have already announced the dates on which the tests will be carried out, which will help you to be clear about when they will be held and to start plan how to prepare for them.
In general, selectivity 2022 must end before June 17 in the first call , and the provisional results will have to be published before June 30, 2022 . This is established in article 9 of theDraft order that determines the characteristics, design and content of the Baccalaureate evaluation for university access, and the maximum dates of completion and resolution of the procedures for reviewing the grades obtained, in the course 2021-2022 , presented by the Ministry of Universities and the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training.
Likewise, the tests of the extraordinary call must end before July 15, 2022, in the event that the regional administrations decide to carry them out in July, and their provisional results will have to be announced before July 22. If the tests of the second call are held in September 2022, they will have to be held before the 16th of that month, and the results must be published before September 22, 2022.

Students may present themselves to the EBAU with a failed subject
One of the main novelties of selectivity 2022 is that, for the first time, 2nd year Baccalaureate students will be able to take the university entrance exams with a failed subject . This occurs due to the new Royal Decree 984/2021 that regulates the evaluation, promotion and qualification in the Baccalaureate, which allows students to graduate with a failed subject.
However, it should be clarified that 2nd year Baccalaureate students with a failed subject will only be able to receive the title and present themselves to the EBAU under certain circumstances :
- That the teaching team has determined that they have achieved the objectives and competencies according to the course.
- Not having been unexcused and continuously absent from class.
- Have taken the necessary exams for their evaluation.
- That the average of the marks obtained in all the subjects of the stage is equal to or greater than 5.
What will the 2022 selectivity exams be like?
The calls for the EBAU exams for the 2021-2022 school year and also for the 2022-2023 school year will maintain the same format that was implemented in the last two years due to the pandemic , according to a proposal that the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training has given to meet the regional governments and the State School Council.
The Government will maintain the exceptionality applied in the 2020 and 2021 EBAU, in the sense that the anti-COVID-19 measures (distancing and mandatory mask) will be applied where they are carried out, and that the structure of the exams will be similar to that of The last two years. Thus, instead of choosing between two exam options per subject and assuming the questions corresponding to each alternative, students will be able to select the questions they want to answer from both options.
Likewise, and in order to facilitate the adaptation of the tests to the necessary measures derived from the pandemic, the EBAU will preferably have a duration of a maximum of four days . In those autonomous communities with a co-official language, it will preferably have a duration of a maximum of five days.
Heading for a new university entrance exam for 2024
Within two academic years, a new model for the Assessment of Baccalaureate for University Access (EBAU) will be implemented , which will be more flexible and will have more contents that can be homologated between autonomous communities. This was recently pointed out by the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Pilar Alegría, in an interview with Cadena SER in Burgos.
Alegría has indicated that the current EBAU model is based on the previous educational law, the LOMCE, approved by the previous PP government, but that the current law, the LOMLOE , states that the model of access and admission to university will be changed in the 2023-2024 academic year. He has also pointed out that the work to modify the EBAU has already begun: conversations have been opened with the Conference of Spanish Rectors and different models are being developed.
Prepare in time for selectivity
Although the selectivity exams are still a few months away, preparing for them in advance will be beneficial. This is what some teachers consulted maintain , who consider that planning a study method in advance and frequently practicing the exam models is essential to obtain better results in the EBAU.
The teaching staff compares the EBAU with a sports event for which you have to train every day and in advance. "The longer you train, the better prepared you'll be and the better mark you'll get," says Daniel Onorato Bravo, a 2nd year Baccalaureate teacher at the IES Nicolás Copérnico de Écija, in Seville consulted by Educaweb.
