With the approval of Law No. 628, students from the country's official and private educational centers, of the intermediate level, will have the option of an international baccalaureate, which will allow them to access higher education throughout the world.
The sanction of the regulation, which supports the formation of the Panama Bilingual Academy for the Future and implements the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program in Panama, took place this Friday by the president of the republic, Laurentino Cortizo.
"It is a gradual, creative project and endorses the formation of the Panama Bilingual Academy for the Future, established by executive decree and which is now being strengthened at the level of legislation," an official statement from the Ministry of Education reported.
During the enactment of the Law, the student of the Panama Bilingual Academy for the Future, Eliazib Aguilar, said that it is an honor to express himself, in the voice of his classmates, and explain a little of the experience, throughout the 2021 school year, that it has been full of invaluable learnings for your future.
"Training young people with a leadership character has been an arduous task and we as students must make the most of this opportunity, so that it is enriching and growing," he said.
The project contemplates a focus on the teaching of English, as well as all the necessary aspects to fully develop young people with an international vision, based on the criteria of the diploma program, which highlights critical thinking as a fundamental pillar of teaching innovative, Aguilar added.
He said that as future leaders, they require spaces like this "to develop fully and, in the same way, we hope that this opportunity can be offered to many more young people throughout the country," said the student.
