According to preliminary figures, there were 2.2% more applicants this year than in the previous period, when 287,599 people were registered.
The Regular PAES 2024, Admission 2025, will be applied on Monday 2, Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 December.
Last Wednesday, July 31, at 1:00 p.m., the exceptional registration period for the Regular PAES ended, which will be applied on Monday, December 2, Tuesday, December 3, and Wednesday, December 4 of this year.
According to preliminary figures, the closing of this process, which began on June 10, ended with 294,020 people registered. This means that there was a 2.2% increase compared to last year, when the total number of people registered was 287,599.
The process was characterized by the high participation of registrants from regions other than the Metropolitan Region, who exceeded 170 thousand, that is, 61.2% of the registration comes from outside the Metropolitan Region. The same occurred with female participation, which reached 53.2% (156,278) of the total number.
On this occasion, and also according to preliminary figures, there were 17,769 People with Disabilities and/or Special Educational Needs who requested some type of adjustment or adaptation for taking the tests, and 1,239 requested the use of a social name, due to their gender identity.
Furthermore, the majority trend of representatives from the year's promotion (currently in the 12th year of secondary school) was maintained, with 71.8% of people enrolled, which is equivalent to a total of 210,961. The number of applicants from previous promotions reached 83,059, that is, 28.2% of the total.
Other preliminary figures to highlight are related to participation by dependency. In this process, and according to the preliminary balance, 156,778 people from subsidized private establishments were registered, 31,070 from paid private establishments and 104,894 from Municipal establishments and Local Public Education Services (SLEP). In the latter case, it is 2.8% more than in the previous process, when the number reached 102,011.
The number of people registered for the PAES for Mathematical Competence 2 (M2) also increased by more than 4,600 compared to the previous year. That is, in this process, 156,332 people registered for this test, 53.2% of the total number of applicants. In contrast, last year a total of 151,702 people (52.7%) registered for M2.
For the Undersecretary of Higher Education, Víctor Orellana , these figures show “a positive evolution since its first implementation in 2022. We want this test to be considered as one more opportunity to meet the entry requirements for higher education and to give students relief, since they do not risk everything in a single session, since in the middle of each year they can take the winter PAES, and improve their scores for the university admission processes.”
Meanwhile, the director of the Department of Evaluation, Measurement and Educational Registration (DEMRE) of the University of Chile, Leonor Varas , explained that “these figures, although still preliminary, show that the number of people who plan their future through education continues to increase, which makes us happy. We are also excited that more people are registering for the PAES for Mathematical Competence 2. Applicants are more informed about how important this test is, which many careers with intensive use of mathematics require to more accurately distinguish those who have higher skills in this discipline.”

Once the registration process for the Regular PAES 2024, Admission 2025 has finished, the following dates are those that applicants should take into account from now on:
Publication of Final Offer of Courses, Weightings and Vacancies : September 25.
Regular PAES Submission: December 2, 3 and 4.
Delivery of PAES Regular results: Monday, January 6, 2025, from 08:00 hours.
Centralized application period Admission 2025: from January 6, 2025, at 09:00 a.m., to January 9, at 1:00 p.m.
Delivery of results of the selection process: January 20, 2025, at 12:00 p.m.
First registration period: January 21-23, 2025.
Second registration period: January 24-30, 2025.
