Meanwhile, 10 prison inmates are also scheduled to sit for the O/L examination this year, the Media Spokesperson of the Prisons Department Chandana Ekanayake said.
In addition, an examination centre has also been established in the National Institute of Infectious Diseases in order to provide opportunity for dengue-infected students to sit for the O/L examination under the medical supervision.
Director of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases Dr. Dinesh Koggalage stated that accordingly, 18 dengue-infected children who are currently receiving treatment at the IDH hospital are facing the examination at the relevant examination centre.
Meanwhile, the National Transport Commission (NTC) has decided to operate the “Sisu Sariya” school bus service continuously throughout the period in which the examination is held, despite the school term holidays.
The Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association (LPBOA) also mentioned yesterday (28) that 12,000 private buses will continuously be operated as usual to provide transport services during this period.
Joining a press briefing, President of the association Gemunu Wijeratne requested the bus drivers to give priority to the students travelling in uniform to sit for the exams and not to go on strikes owing to small issues during this period while requesting to contact him in any case, without engaging in emergency bus strikes.
