Baccalaureate students face the final stretch towards the EBAU , the university entrance exam formerly known as Selectividad. Between June 1 —when Murcians will be examined, who will be the first— and June 17 —when the Andalusians turn ends—, students from all over the country will take exams in Spanish Language and Literature, Foreign Language , History of Spain and a subject corresponding to the modality studied. In addition, those who seek more marks to access the degree they want will be able to opt for four extra points with optional subjects.
If 2020 was marked by the interruption of attendance at institutes, the word that defines 2021 is blendedness. The generation that is presented this year was forced to adapt to the classes 'online' when the pandemic arrived and has had to alternate physical and telematic classes, in many cases, in the decisive course. To make matters worse, this criterion has varied from one community to another: in Navarra, for example, teaching has been 100% face-to-face, a bet that at the beginning of the year seemed risky, but which in the end has yielded good results.
To compensate for these shortcomings, the exam will be more flexible , as was done last year, but teachers predict "beastly competition" not to be left out of the most coveted degrees. "Last year, for better or for worse, we were all at home and we had the same opportunities and problems, but this year there has been that difference. Although it is a test that most surpasses, the problem is the races for which it is needed. Note and compete with people like you; if you have been in blended learning and your neighbor in person and you are going for the same, you will pass, but ... ", the director of the IES Navarro Villoslada, in Pamplona, Alberto Arriazu, exemplifies to Efe.

What will the EBAU exams be like?
The Minister of Universities, Manuel Castells, has confirmed that the EBAU exams will be face-to-face , provided that the epidemiological situation allows it. "It depends on how the Indian variant or the social discipline goes," he said. "The idea at this time is for it to be a face-to-face course with health precaution measures, which are not going to disappear anytime soon." Similarly, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Universities want next year's classes to leave behind the 'online' training, but it will be in August, with the availability of more immediate data, when it is decided what will happen in the course 2021-2022.
The structure of the exams will be similar to that of 2020. Instead of choosing between an option A and an option B for each subject, as is usually the case, students will be able to select the questions they prefer to solve from both options.
Prevention protocol against covid-19
The Public Health Commission, in which all the autonomous communities and the Ministry of Health are represented, approved on April 27 the update of prevention measures against covid-19 for the performance of the EBAU, including maintaining an interpersonal distance of 1.5 meters between students; ventilate the classrooms 15 minutes before the tests and the permanent use of the mask.
Regarding this last rule, it is emphasized that the mask should not be removed to cough or sneeze and that, if it is removed, the nose and mouth should be covered with a handkerchief and discarded in a garbage can, preferably with a lid. and pedal. Subsequently, efforts will be made to guarantee hand hygiene. "If handkerchiefs are not available, the inside of the elbow should be used to avoid contaminating the hands", it is specified. You should also avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
People with symptoms compatible with COVID-19 will not be able to access the test center. Nor those who have been diagnosed with the disease and do not present symptoms, nor those who are still in quarantine. If a person begins to have symptoms of covid-19 in the moments before the test or during the test, the person responsible for covid-19 in the center must be informed, they will be given a surgical mask if they did not wear it previously and they will be It will indicate that you go home as soon as possible (in cases where it is necessary, your family will be notified), avoiding close contacts, to initiate isolation measures. If for any reason it is necessary to attend to you, you will be taken to a separate space for individual use and the person who attends you must wear a FFP2 mask without a valve.
The affected person will contact the health center or the reference telephone number of the autonomous community, or where appropriate, with its Occupational Risk Prevention Service, and their instructions will be followed. If it is a working person, you must leave your job until your medical situation is assessed by a health professional. In the case of perceiving that the person who initiates symptoms is in a serious situation or has difficulty breathing, call 112. "In a situation of uncontrolled community transmission, the competent administrations and the Public Health authorities will indicate in a coordinated manner if additional measures are necessary or not or the postponement of the exams ", clarifies the protocol.
What will be the headquarters of the EBAU?
EBAU exams are taken at the university to which the institute where the students completed their secondary studies is attached . Not all universities have already published the venues and the list of centers that correspond to each institution. Those that are known at the moment for the ordinary call are:
What is the cut-off mark for each race?
The grade obtained in the EBAU corresponds to 40% of the cut-off mark to access the university, while the remaining 60% is obtained from the final grade for Baccalaureate . Passing the test requires a minimum of four points out of 10 as a result of the average of the examinations of the general phase - Spanish Language and Literature, History of Spain, First Foreign Language and a core subject of the corresponding modality -, five points in the case of those communities that have their own official language. Both grades make up the University Access Qualification (CAU). In addition, the specific phase gives the students the possibility to obtain four more points, a total of 14 . To do this, they can voluntarily examine up to four subjects, each of which may add from one to two points, depending on the priority established by the university for the subject. In any case, the weighted grade will not lower the general phase average.
It should be remembered that there is no way of knowing for sure what grade students need to access the desired career, since the necessary score is based on a variable calculation that depends on the qualifications obtained by the applicants and the number of places offered. What future university students can do is take as a reference the cut-off mark from the previous year . Thus, for example, those who want to study Medicine at the Autonomous University of Madrid can get used to the idea that the required grade will be high, since last year 13,426 points were needed, at least.
When will the EBAU notes be known?
The provisional marks of the exams will be known one week after taking the tests . Therefore, it will depend on the date in which the examinations of the autonomous communities are carried out. All must be known before June 25, which is when the term ends in Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla, which are the territories where the tests are later carried out.
