Graduates in the academic year 2021/2022 who did not pass the state matura in the June exam session or did not pass in full, will take the two external exams.
The first external (mandatory) exam is for mother tongue (Macedonian, Albanian or Turkish) and literature, and the second external exam is optional from the subjects: mathematics, foreign language (English, French, German or Russian), aesthetics and philosophy. The state examination center said last month that the average score of the two external exams taken in June was 3.78 and was higher than last school year 2020/2021 when it was 3.61. 15,899 candidates (7,135 from high schools, 8,504 from vocational schools, and 260 from art schools) were registered to take the state matura during the June exam period. This year, the state matriculation exam took place in accordance with the agreement with the high school students, that is, two external, two internal subjects and a project assignment and according to shortened exam programs.
