Final exams for Thanaweya Amma students ended on 21 July, the ministry said, concluding the 2021/2022 school year for about 22 million students of all grades nationwide.

Regarding the timetable for the 2022/2023 academic year, the ministry said it will start on 9 September 2022 and last till 8 June 2023, lasting 35 weeks.

The ministry said the number of school days for the first semester will be 98, while the second term will have 96 days, including exam days and excluding public holidays.

The first term of the academic year for all public, private, language, and experimental schools, which will start on 24 September 2022, will end on 26 January 2023, with the mid-year vacation starting on 28 January.

First-term exams for primary and preparatory stages will be held on 14 January, according to the ministry, while the second term exams will be held on 3 June, with Thanaweya Amma exams starting on 10 June 2023.

Regarding the grievances of 2021/2022 Thanwya Amma, the window for submitting complaints will be 15 days after the announcement of the result, the ministry stated, highlighting that all procedures will be done electronically.

Each student will have to pay EGP 300 to file a grievance for each subject, and the fees will be deposited into the account of the Educational Projects Support Fund.

If student scores are modified, the student will be notified of the outcome of the grievance and the fees are refunded electronically.

The student who files the grievance will have the opportunity to review the ratio of the answer sheet to the student, the correctness of all answers, and monitor the grades, but grievances do not interfere in the assessment of the answers.

Egypt’s 2021/2022 academic year started in October 2021 amid tightened coronavirus restrictions with in-person classes after adopting a virtual education system for the previous year-and-a half due to the pandemic.

In 2020, schools and universities suspended in-person classes in March in the wake of the pandemic. Most students have remained at home since, with assignments given online, although pupils taking their final high school exams – the Thanaweya Amma – did so in person in June and July.
