CBSE clarifies the criteria for calculating Class X and XII students' percentages in response to inquiries. The notice underscores that no overall division or aggregate will be awarded, and decisions on the best five subjects, especially for candidates opting for more than five, rest with the admitting institution or employer. Importantly, CBSE does not calculate or declare percentages, leaving this task to admitting institutions or employers for purposes of higher education or employment.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released a notice clarifying the criteria of percentage calculation for Class X and XII board examinations. Referring to examination bye-laws, the notice emphasizes that no overall division/distinction/aggregate will be awarded. If a candidate has taken more than five subjects, the decision to determine the best five subjects lies with the admitting institution or employer.
The CBSE does not calculate or declare percentages; institutions or employers handle this for higher education or employment purposes.
In response to numerous requests seeking clarification on the criteria for calculating the percentage of students in the Board's examinations, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) issued a notice addressing the matter. According to sub-section 40.1 (iii) of Chapter-7 of the Examination Bye-Laws, the CBSE specifies that no overall division, distinction, or aggregate shall be awarded to students.
