Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has written to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik seeking his personal intervention for immediate furnishing of provisional final semester result or mark sheet for Under-Graduate (UG) students in Odisha.
The results of the final (6th) semester exams which were conducted in online mode are expected to be declared later in the month of September. However, despite repeated pleas to colleges and State education authorities, these students have not been provided provisional marksheet, said Pradhan on the basis of multiple grievances he received from the student community in Odisha.
The Education Minister stated that late publication of provisional result or non-issuance of marksheet is causing great suffering and jeopardizing the career prospects of students.
Drawing attention of CM Naveen, Pradhan said that students are required to submit their final marksheet, or an attested provisional marksheet, for postgraduate (PG) admission in various state and central universities outside Odisha, where the admission procedure has already commenced.
It is also mentioned in the letter that many students have already missed admission deadline for Central University of Mizoram and Bharathiar University, and are under severe stress due to last-approaching deadlines for other universities such Mumbai University, Kumaon University etc.
Also, there is a chance that these students will also be deprived from appearing in any offline university entrance examinations being held outside the State.
In view of this, Pradhan has sought urgent attention of the Odisha CM in undertaking necessary action for immediate issue of final marksheet, or an attested provisional marksheet to them so that they will be able to pursue postgraduate admissions into various state and central Universities in India.
