Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Wednesday said none of the educational institutes throughout the country will be reopened in the next month as all the educational institutes have been closed since March 17 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“It is unlikely the educational institutes will be reopened across the country in the upcoming November amid fear of the spread of coronavirus," she said on a virtual platform while replying to queries at a press conference in Dhaka.
The educational institutes which were reopened in various places across the globe have been forced to shut down considering the latest spike of Covid-19, she told the press briefing arranged for taking decision on holding the final exams at the secondary schools in the country.
“We have also discussed this [school reopening] with our National Consultant Committee on the coronavirus pandemic,” she said quoting experts on viral infection ahead of the winter season.
She expressed dissatisfaction over the health guidelines which are randomly violated by the public, adding that the decision of reopening the educational institutes would be materialized when the risk of the viral infection would come under a tolerable level.
Holidays of all the educational institutes, except the Kawmi Madrasas have been extended till October 31.
