As of the 2021 session of the general and technological baccalaureate, a certificate of competence in modern foreign and regional languages will be issued to candidates at the end of the terminal cycle at the same time as the diploma. This is what is provided for in a decree and an order published in the Official Journal on November 5, 2020.
The certificate makes it possible to locate the candidate's level in each of the languages presented for the examination with regard to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) , the aim of which is in particular to rethink the objectives and methods of language teaching. It also responds to the Modern Languages Plan French which aims to strengthen students' achievements for a better command of modern foreign languages.
The level indicated on the certificate is determined:
- for candidates from public or private contract: by the results obtained in the 3 th joint assessment of foreign language A (LVA) and modern language B (LVB);
- for candidates who do not follow courses from any establishment, candidates enrolled in private establishments without contract and those registered at the National Center for Distance Learning (CNED): by the results obtained in the punctual evaluation of LVA and LVB;
- for candidates registered for the examination in the international section and in the binational section: by the results obtained in the specific language and literature assessment of the language of the section;
- for the candidates of the series " sciences and technologies of agronomy and the living " , in the technological way: by the results obtained for each language within the framework of the control during the training and by the results obtained at the evaluation ad hoc LVA and LVB for out-of-school candidates and candidates registered with the National Center for Rural Promotion (CNPR).
