Written school-leaving examination passed in Gym, HAK and HLW Horn without any problems.
The Matura process at secondary schools has now also been switched to “normal operation”. After a two-year Corona break, there is also an oral Matura again. With additional preparatory hours and the inclusion of the annual grade in the Matura result, there is some additional security for the high school graduates.
“We are really satisfied with the result of the written Matura. In general, after Corona, it was very gratifying," says Peter Hofbauer, director of the commercial academy and the college for economic professions. This time there are very few compensation tests. "Normally we need two days for this, this year these tests are only scheduled for half a day," Hofbauer is pleased.
Again "oral" after two years of Corona
In general, the written Matura passed without any problems. The high school graduates made good use of the additional hours of preparation. The tasks were quite okay for them. "They didn't experience any major surprises," says Hofbauer. For the HLW high school graduates, things will get serious again from June 6th with the oral Matura, which will start at the commercial academy on June 20th. After completing these exams, there will also be a graduation ceremony.
This celebration is planned for the 15th of June for the high school graduates. "We're trying to get the Matura back to normal and to do everything the way it was before Corona," emphasizes Director Michael Ableidinger. Of course, this would also include the oral Matura, which will start this year on June 13 after a two-year break for the 43 high school graduates at Horn High School. "Of course, the young people would have preferred it if there hadn't been an oral Matura this year either. But I am sure that in a few years they will be happy that they have passed a normal high school diploma with a total of seven grades," says Ableidinger.
The written Matura went without any problems
“The result was actually to be expected. Also with the fact that there are some compensation checks,” says Ableidinger. The high school graduates were quite satisfied with the tasks set. "Some found the listening exercise with the living foreign languages to be difficult, but still feasible." One of the high school graduates agrees: "When listening in English, however, it could have been a few minutes more," says high school high school graduate Iris Rudolf. In general, however, the high school graduates were satisfied even after the written exam. In terms of the tasks, it was “challenging, as expected, but definitely manageable with the necessary preparation,” says Felix Tiller, for example.
The mathematics exam that many "dreaded" shouldn't have been that bad this year either, but exceptions confirm the rule here too: "In my opinion, mathematics was particularly demanding," notes Lorenz Matzek, for example. While some high school graduates also described the preparations for the high school diploma as "sufficient", Johanna Barta was not entirely satisfied with it. Even if the teachers had given their best: “But we only had a week of preparation time because we had normal lessons before that. Even in the subjects in which no one has graduated,” she says.
Oral: Hoping for simple questions
The high school graduates now hope that the teachers will be more forgiving when it comes to the oral part, and that “questions will be asked simply and will not deviate significantly from the topic,” says Rudolf. Matzek, on the other hand, hopes that he "didn't score an own goal with my choice of subjects and that I will pass the last pillar of my Matura with a positive result". In a few days, the school-leaving stress will be history and some high-school graduates will also go on a school-leaving trip. This was not booked by class, but in different groups.
