With the 2025 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) just 100 days away, entrance exam experts advised to "identify the weight of each area and focus on the main area." The upcoming 6th is 100 days before the College Scholastic Ability Test, and this year's College Scholastic Ability Test will be held on November 14.
On the 5th, Nam Yoon-gon, head of the Mega Study Education Entrance Strategy Institute, said, "The occasional admission requires strategic learning to meet the minimum standards for the CSAT of the target university, and it is important to study the regular admission by identifying the weights of each area of the CSAT." Fifteen major universities select more than 45% of the applicants for the 2025 academic year by applying the minimum academic standards for the CSAT, because only 60% of the applicants met the minimum academic standards.
According to Mega Study, only 57% of the applicants met the minimum academic standards for the CSAT in the case of school recommendation, which is a course for Korea University in 2024. In the academic excellence screening that applies the minimum academic standards for the CSAT among the comprehensive screening, the interviewers' satisfaction rate of the minimum academic standards for the CSAT remained at 63%.
The same was true of the essay examination. The competition rate for essay writing at Kyung Hee University's pharmacy department in 2024 was 176.5 to 1, but the actual competition rate for those who met the minimum standards for CSAT fell sharply to 34.4 to 1. Director Nam said, "In the case of essay screening with a high competition rate, the probability of passing the CSAT increases significantly just by meeting the minimum academic standards," and advised, "If you apply to a recruitment unit that applies the minimum academic standards for the CSAT in occasional recruitment, you should carefully check the standards for each university and recruitment unit to establish a strategy."
In the case of student department curriculum screening, Korea University, Chung-Ang University, and Hanyang University must have a sum of 7 grades in three areas, and Sogang University must have 3 grades in each of the three areas. Yonsei University and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies should have a combined grade of 4 in two areas, and natural sciences such as Yonsei University, Kyunghee University, and Soongsil University should have a combined grade of 5 in two areas, so the criteria for each target university should be carefully examined.
In the case of on-time screening, it is efficient to learn with priority in the area to which weights are applied at the target university. Director Nam said, "Based on major universities in 2025, there are many universities that give weight to the Korean language and math areas for the humanities and the natural sciences to the math areas," adding, "We need to increase the score by identifying strengths and weaknesses by area and question through analysis of mock evaluation results." He advised that if his vulnerable type in Korean language subjects has a lot of tricky questions and it is difficult to improve his grades, one way is to give up boldly and answer all the other questions.
"Rather than studying new content, it is better to organize the difficult parts of what you have studied so far," said Kim Won-joong, head of the entrance strategy department at Daesung Academy. "It is also necessary to organize concepts through EBS textbooks and textbooks and use incorrect answer notes that have been organized, while developing a sense of practice by solving mock test questions several times."
