AACRAO LGBTQIA+ Caucus

Mission Statement

The LGBTQIA+ Caucus works toward LGBTQIA+ rights and educates other higher education professionals so they are able to serve their students with an understanding of sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.

The LGBTQIA+ Caucus connects via the Exchange, hosts webinars, writes articles, and meets at the monthly Caucus Gatherings. They also convene at AACRAO’s Annual Meeting. The Caucus welcomes any AACRAO member willing to advance LGBTQIA+ rights, regardless of sexual identity or orientation.

Statement from AACRAO LGBTQIA+ Caucus on the verdict in the George Floyd murder case

In the ongoing fight against racism, and in light of the recent verdict in the murder trial of George Floyd, the AACRAO LGBTQIA Caucus stands with our friends and colleagues in condemning racism in all of its forms. We are committed to recognizing and ending injustice wherever it is found- and we invite all AACRAO members to join us."

AACRAO's LGBTQIA+ Caucus hosts the July Book Club

In a 2014 interview with archivist Marvin Taylor, artist Julie Ault noted that “People, things, and events can seem to come to life in the archive.” This sentiment feels acutely true of Alison Bechdel’s Fun Home, a graphic memoir that attempts to make sense of her father’s life, death, and queerness.
