S1.103 - Enrollment or Enrolment: Implementing SEM in the Canadian Context

This pre-conference workshop, aimed at both new and seasoned Canadian practitioners, explores the emergence of SEM in Canada and how its application has both replicated and differed from practices in U.S.-based institutions. Beginning with an exploration of shifts in the Canadian postsecondary landscape, we will review SEM concepts and strategies and determine how and why we have approached SEM differently. We will examine a number of key areas such as enrolment data and demographic analysis, international and domestic recruitment, accessibility for underrepresented groups, financial aid, admiss ions policies, academic success strategies, student support services, organizational structures, transfer articulation, and assessment and accountability measures. Best practices will be shared and participants will have an opportunity for dialogue and discussion of emerging issues.

S2. 061 - Utilizing Student Outcomes and Other Institutional Assessment Data to Drive an Enrollment Management Initiative

This presentation will identify the specific student outcomes data as well as other institutional assessment tools used by SUNY Oneonta to engage a data-driven enrollment management initiative. Campus constituencies and constituent groups needed to support a comprehensive data-driven enrollment management initiative will be identified as will consensus-building strategies to bring such groups together. A data-assessment worksheet will be distributed to help participants determine the level of campus readiness to engage a data-driven enrollment management initiative. A question and answer session will conclude this workshop.

S3.106 - Expanding Your Repertoire: Leveraging Financial Aid to Optimize Enrollment

This half-day workshop will introduce participants to the methods used to gather and assess institutional data for financial aid leveraging. Practical examples of data assembly, assessment, and resulting strategies to maximize the effectiveness of all sources of financial aid will be presented. Some basic knowledge of financial aid programs (knowing a grant from a loan and cost of attendance) is helpful but not required for participants. The session will cover issues of data assembly, cleaning and coding, tools to assess financial aid effectiveness and strategies for institutional aid assignment to meet institutional enrollment goals.

Explore strategies for implementing campus-wide recruitment utilizing the latest technologies, from streaming e-mail to podcasts to chatrooms to text messages.
