AACRAO is pleased to offer a signature professional development workshop, the Admissions Leadership Academy. This one-day workshop is designed to help those aspiring to leadership positions, those new to leadership positions and leaders who seek a “refresher” on the field. Recruitment, marketing, operations, staffing and technologies that support admissions and recruitment will be covered.

The workshop is interactive. Participants will learn through information and knowledge shared by Academy faculty, individual and group exercises and reflections, as well as ample discussions and question/answer formats with faculty and other participants.

The Admissions Leadership Academy will be led by Michele Sandlin and Tom Green. Ms. Sandlin was one of AACRAO’s original developers of leadership training in admissions and has continued to develop training for campuses across the country. Dr. Green has worked with dozens of colleges and universities to improve admissions and recruitment and bring this experience, plus over 23 years as a chief enrollment officer, to the workshop.

The Academy is offered at a special summer rate of $99 per person. Enrollment is limited to 50 participants on a first-come, first-served basis to ensure a high level of interaction with Academy faculty during the day.

Presenter: Dr. Tom Green, Associate Executive Director, Consulting & SEM, AACRAO

Dr. Tom Green is AACRAO’s Associate Executive Director, Consulting and SEM. During his 29-year career in higher education, he led enrollment management efforts for six universities and collaborated with both public and private institutions to reach their goals. Green brings proven best-practice expertise in developing effective recruitment and retention strategies, enhancing and streamlining financial aid processes, maximizing institutional aid, identifying customer service/CRM strategies, and implementing and evaluating comprehensive service systems for colleges and universities.

Presenter: Michele Sandlin, Managing Consultant, AACRAO

Michele Sandlin is an AACRAO Managing Consultant. She previously served as the Director of Admissions and the Campus Visitors Center at Oregon State University for 15 years, during which university enrollment grew by over 67%, while achieving additional goals for diversity and academic preparedness of incoming students. Ms. Sandlin’s career has also included successful tenures at Pacific University, Portland State University, the University of Oregon, and Western State College in Colorado.

During her 35 years as a higher education professional, Ms. Sandlin has become well known for her industry-leading expertise in holistic admissions, admissions operations, staff and space management, 2yr/4r campus partnerships, branch campus development, transfer policy and practices, accreditation compliance review, articulation process, policy and agreements, decentralized-centralized structural realignment, and graduate and international admissions. She has served in state, regional and national leadership positions with AACRAO and with the International Baccalaureate Program, having served as the IB Chair for the Americas College and University Recognition Board.

Ms. Sandlin completed her Master of Science degree in Higher Education Policy Foundations and Administration at Portland State University. She is a native of the Colorado Rockies, and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Sciences from Colorado State University.
