On Thursday, November 20 and the morning of Friday, November 21, Registrar 101 will cover the Role of the Registrar, Advice to New Registrars, A Semester in the Life: Nuts and Bolts, and other critical building blocks for new registrars.
On the morning of Friday, November 21, AACRAO will hold a separate half-day workshop on FERPA, at the same hotel. Barbara Lauren, AACRAO expert on FERPA matters, will present some classic FERPA situations and comment on the newest proposed changes in FERPA.
About the Program
Who should attend?
Registrars who are new to the profession (within three years)
The course will be taught by experienced AACRAO registrars and staff. It will also encourage questions to the presenters, and discussion among the participants, in all modules.

The Role of the Registrar
Discuss professional and institutional issues driving the profession.
A Semester in the Life of a Registrar: Nuts and Bolts
What happens when? And how does it happen correctly and on time during a semester? This interactive session covers the major tasks facing the registrar's office.
FERPA
This module provides an overview of the FERPA statute and regulations and ongoing policy interpretations by the U.S. Department of Education, and discusses common scenarios under FERPA. Participants are encouraged to ask questions about FERPA issues they face.
